Ellen MacIsaac, my former professor at the University of Ottawa and a wonderful Gaelic singer, commissioned me to compose a tune as a Christmas present for her dad in 2019. I was planning on composing a strathspey, but ended up writing both a strathspey and a reel that felt like they should go together. This is the reel, written to follow “A Tune for Frances”.
